 New Production Facilities Now Open April 2005 R-Garden has taken another big step to ensure that you continue to get high-quality products at a competitive price. When we first started in 1990, we used a supplement company to produce and bottle our unique, proprietary formulas. We relied on them to do everything from acquiring the raw materials to bottling the product. This worked well, but it gave us limited control over the individual ingredients that went into our products.  Over the last eight years, we have taken over the bottling and labeling process and the purchasing of the raw materials for most of our products. During this time, we still relied on an outside vendor to mix the raw materials and encapsulate them for us. When we started purchasing the raw materials directly, we significantly improved the quality of our products. By testing samples of raw materials from suppliers all over the world with our test equipment and with Biokinesiology, we were able to calibrate the ingredients to see which ones had the highest potency.
It is this careful selection process that keeps our products testing the highest in the marketplace. We know many of you prefer vegetarian capsules. But for many years, a good vegetarian capsule was not available [didn't test well]. With new technology and increased demand, new sources of vegetarian capsules are now available. These capsules are more expensive than the traditional gelatin capsules, but we now use them in all of our products except those that contain animal products. Our Advanced Joint Formula and Coral Calcium products contain animal products and we use the gelatin capsules. [Flaxseed Oil is in soft gel capsules as we haven't found a good vegetarian source yet - but we're looking.]
Our new 12,000 square foot production facility was completed in late 2004 and we started operations early this year. There was a lot of expensive equipment to buy and set up, but we can now mix, encapsulate, bottle and label our products from this one facility. We have a walk-in refrigeration room for the raw and finished products that need it and a temperature controlled warehouse. This new facility gives us plenty of room for future growth. By doing everything in this one facility, we have greater control over what goes into our products, how they are handled, and when they go onto our shelves. For products for which there is less demand, we can make smaller runs and thus keep them fresher. For our popular products, it will now be much easier to keep them in stock. So, we should have fewer back-orders.
